martyr
As reported in today's New York Times:
"In the week since Saddam Hussein was hanged in an execution steeped in sectarian overtones, his public image in the Arab world, formerly that of a convicted dictator, has undergone a resurgence of admiration and awe."
"By standing up to the United States and its client government in Baghdad and dying with seeming dignity, Mr. Hussein appears to have been virtually cleansed of his past."
"admiration and awe"..."been virtually cleansed of his past"?!
We were wrong to invade. I believed it from the start. Now we have created a martyr and expanded the resulting huge sectarian gap. This can not continue!!

Awesome power
cleanses and renews
dangerous and intimidating
a photographer's sheer delight
seeing the waves pounding -- thrills
nature at its absolute best.

Entering the 21st Century
Here goes my first attempt at a blog. I see so much in the world today that causes pause for thought and concern that I just have to speak and just possibly be heard. We are killing our planet and fighting amongst ourselves. Let's give peace a chance, shall we?
